It’s funny how this is only the second exclusive post on an e.l.f. product here on the blog. Especially since this is a brand I’ve thoroughly enjoyed since I began my interest in the beauty sphere.

THE BACKSTORY: Like I mentioned, e.l.f. has been a constant presence in my life as a makeup and beauty lover. I’ve loved them since their $1 phase. It’s a reliable old brand, whether you’re looking for more affordable dupes of high-end products or just a solid product to add to your collection. While their products no longer cost a dollar, they deliver the great formulas at a more reasonable price point than most other brands nowadays.

*Edit: Well, the timing of the post is as unfortunate as e.l.f. dropping the ball by hiring godforsaken Matt Rife for their campaign. I’m disappointed by their choices and won’t be giving any e.l.f products the time of day from now on.

THE PRODUCT: It comes packaged in a clear plastic unit with a white lid. It has a large doe-foot applicator, which I’ve mostly seen being used for lip glosses/lip oils.

Using the big applicator to apply the product directly onto your face is a bit much. What I do instead is I take the applicator and apply whatever product is on it on the back of my hand, and then I use my fingers to dab the blush on across my cheeks and blend it out.

It’s very pigmented and opaque so a little dab goes a long way. I love the slightly dewy and fresh finish it leaves behind.

It’s smooth and easy to blend. You don’t really need to build it up in layers because of how opaque the shades tend to be. One layer is more than enough.

While it is quite long lasting on its own, I honestly love going over it with a loose translucent powder or a blush in a similar tone to set it. It lasts even longer if you do that extra step.

I think liquid blushes aren’t exactly beginner-friendly and this formula is no exception. People who know how much product to dispense for a perfect flush of colour to the cheeks only get there with trial and error. So make of that what you will. If you see a colour you like, you can simply take your time to not overdo the amount you apply.

This was supposedly a dupe for the Rare Beauty liquid blushes, and I honestly think I prefer these. I think the formula is much more forgiving and is a better bang for your buck.
