Being the massive fan of Glossier that I am, you can imagine how giddy I was when I saw that they were expanding their blush line-up last year.
THE BACKSTORY: Somehow, I’m still such a massive fan of Glossier. The brand has long fallen off everybody’s radars but it still brings me so much joy. Mostly because I associate the brand with the kind of barely-there, borderline untraceable makeup that I’ve finessed over the years. I also love the brand because it makes some of my favourite products of all-time, the most apparent being their original Cloud Paint formula. That blush has been featured in my annual best-of-beauty lists for 2018, 2019, 2023 and 2024. I share a greater rapport with that blush than most actual living beings.
TINY RANT, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SKIP: So, you bet I was excited when I saw they were expanding their blush line-up. I spent many, many days pestering my friend, N, and my mum about which shade I would ultimately pick up to try. I placed an order on launch day itself but had to wait for an entire month and a half for it to reach my doorstep, almost effectively killing off any excitement I’d had for the product. The HEFTY customs fee I had to foot also made it impossible for me to be genuinely excited instead of grumpy. I’m just so sick of all the fuckass customs duties that get tacked on international packages. I feel like they especially have it out for me. I already had to pay such a massive amount for shipping and then to get customs charges stacked on top… It drives me nuts.
THE PRODUCT: I’ve always enjoyed Glossier’s minimal white packaging. They also often have colour-coded parts on their products that help distinguish themselves from one another, especially if you own multiple shades. For these blushes, the lids are colour-coded to match the shade of the blush contained inside. The compact is made of plastic and while I do not mind it, I wish it were of better quality. There’s also no mirror inside. Come on. They could’ve at least given us a mirror.
The blush has a putty texture and is a cream-to-powder formula. The brand calls the putty consistency a “memory cloud” texture. Any indentations your brush/finger leaves behind is going to stay.
The blush itself may seem a tad too pigmented, if you were to dip your finger in, but it blends easily into a sheerer, more translucent, fresh-faced finish. You can build up the opacity in layers if you wish for your blush to appear more pronounced.
I find using a densely-packed synthetic blush brush works best, in terms of application. Using your fingers to dispense the colour onto the cheeks is fine but blending with your fingers isn’t the most ideal. By that I mean, using your fingers almost always leads to the blush looking patchy and clinging onto any dry patches or other skin texture issues you might have.
That being said, this formula is also far more forgiving than its liquid counterpart. Because of how much easier it is to blend, it’s a good blush to start out with.
Because of its cream-to-powder formula, the longevity of this blush is quite decent. It lasts extremely well in the ideal circumstances, as one would imagine, with you being in a controlled temperature environment, you topping your makeup off with a good setting spray and so on. But even if you were to forgo all of that, this blush stays looking fresh for a good 6 hours. I also enjoy the blurring, soft matte finish of the blush.
SWATCHES AND SHADES AVAILABLE: These blushes come in 10 shades inspired by “New York sunsets”. ![]()
- ‘Puff’ – the brand calls it a “light pink” but I can’t help but notice the peachiness in it. It’s a light peachy pink, I’d say.
PRICE: $26 USD (approx. 2399 INR)
QUANTITY: 6 grams
AVAILABILITY: Glossier, Sephora etc.
♥ OVERALL: While I do like it and see myself using this a whole lot more during the upcoming Spring-Summer seasons, I can recognise I bought this mostly because of memories attached to Glossier as a brand. If any other brand came out with this, I’d barely spare it a glance and move right along.
