First review of the 2026! Let’s do this, shall we?

THE BACKSTORY: Hince is a brand I’ve always wanted to try and finally decided to do so last year. One of my cousins got married last year and this is one of the products I bought for myself just before it because I knew I’d get good use out of it. It’s a trendy yet minimalistic brand and this, arguably, is their most infamous product. I ordered mine directly from Korea and as I type this, I’m elated to discover that the brand is now available on a local trusted e-commerce site.

THE PRODUCT: It comes housed in a cardboard box. The unit itself is made of a heavy plastic. The component is mostly an eggshell white with rose gold accents. I also like that it is retractable. There’s an “H” embossed on the lid.

I really enjoy a glowy, dewy finish on the skin, even more so if it’s without a hint of shimmer/glitter. The glass-like skin your see on your favourite K-Pop idol or K-Drama actress? This product allows you to achieve exactly that. Radiant skin without having to use a ton of different products.

Let me paint you a picture – you’ve not been doing your skincare before bedtime as religiously as you’d like, you snuck in some chips after lunch, you have this party you’re dreading going to because you’re just not feeling yourself… You have to go anyway. You promised you would. You’re slowly doing your makeup but the radiant, lit-from-within glow that usually follows you is missing. But you have to fake it. You pull out this product to dab on the highest points of your face. In seconds, it seems like you drank a three glasses of water and actually went on your morning jog. Your little makeup product helped you look like you’d rather be with your friends than be in bed, rotting and watching Heated Rivalry for the 23rd time. You can do this. It’s your little secret. No-one has to know.

What this product essentially is, is a multi-purpose balm that you can swipe on the highest points of your face – like your cheek-bones, the tip of your nose, your nose-bridge, your fore-head, your cupid’s bow – to act as a highlighter. It’ll impart a glossy glow to your skin, making your skin look hydrated even if it necessarily isn’t. You can also use it on your eyelids if you’re a fan of glossy lids.

The most hygienic way you can use this is by using your fingers to warm the product up and then tapping the warmed-up balm on your skin. Try not to directly stamp the balm onto your face and use your fingers. Or a densely packed brush/puff applicator. Fingers, I think, work best.

It’s not a product that’s long-wearing. But it lasts a good amount of time if you use a setting spray or are in an air-conditioned place.

The formula is seamless and build-able. A small dab works great. More dabs make you look like you’ve been jogging and are trying to cool off. Go ham, if that’s what you prefer. It’s as effortless as you want it to be.

This particular shade (or lack thereof) will work on multiple different complexions as it’s simply a dewy, translucent balm. The other shades in the line-up favour light to medium complexions and there’s a couple of shades that’d flatter deeper skin-tones.

Even after speaking so highly of this product, I’ll be honest with you here. This product is something you can absolutely skip. Is it good to have? Sure. But is it a necessity in your makeup collection? Hm, I’m not sure. A part of me would argue that something as simple and inexpensive as Vaseline would be able to mimic a similar dewy finish. It’d be a lot greasier, yes, but you’d also be $26 richer.

That being said, this Hince highlighter is a perfect dupe of Chanel’s Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Stick in ‘Transparent’, which is almost thrice as expensive.  You’re definitely better off getting this instead.

This is also, perhaps, only the second highlighter I’ve absolutely and positively loved. The first being the Glossier Haloscope, which, surprise, surprise, I haven’t reviewed all these years (but it’s been featured here and here).
