I have been enjoying these for a long time now so they definitely warrant a closer look.
THE BACKSTORY: I think this is going to be one of the first influencer-founded brands that I will not completely eviscerate. Mostly because it seems like the influencer who founded this company, Diipa Khosla, is actually interested in developing good products on top of having genuinely attractive marketing. I can tell she’s passionate about her brand and that it’s not just a cash grab.
THE PRODUCT: The packaging is very generic. If you opt for the unscented variant, you get a butter yellow coloured tube while the tinted ones match the shades they house inside. The tubes have slanted applicators and they do get a little dirty after each application, you can just take a tissue to wipe off the excess and keep things clean.
I must also note that the formula is very runny and gloopy in the original. They have since tweaked things a bit as the tinted one I bought recently isn’t nearly as molten and runny. I’m glad they reformulated it as I quite like they slight changes they’ve made.
I also find it interesting that their site says the consistency is supposed to mimic “Desi ghee” (clarified butter). It truly does feel like you’re putting ghee on your lips. Hmm, I say that’s more in line with their untinted version rather than the tinted ones. The tinted ones feel like they have a little more heft to them.
It’s rich, non-sticky and instantly hydrating. It also nourishes quite well and the moisture is retained long after you smack some on.
The glossy finish is pretty but wears off easily, especially if you’re a chronic lip-smoosher or a voracious snacker like I am. Such is the life of most lip balms and their finishes. You can reapply easily, which is always a plus.
These honestly have been something I’ve been reaching for a lot lately. So much so that I have to force myself to not throw the shade ‘Chai’ on my lips before I leave the house and instead put on some other product.
A note I have is that the OG unscented variant separated when I left it unattended on my table for a week or two. So there’s that. I’ve also noticed the brand runs a lot of offers that gives you a free OG unscented Dewy Lip Treatment with every purchase. That’s probably them trying their hardest to get rid of old stock to make room for the reformulated ones. This is just me putting my galaxy-brained theories forward.
I just like these and think it’s great we actually have a product that can compete with what all the international brands have to offer. I think Indē Wild holds itself up quite well among the likes of Summer Fridays and Laneige.
