As a beauty lover, I tend to buy a lot of stuff that piques my interest. But somehow there are times I’m so late in reviewing a product that they get discontinued. My bad?

THE BACKSTORY: So, Huda Beauty had a sister brand called Glowish. I believe they halted distribution a year or two ago. While they were still in circulation, their base products, at least, enjoyed some time in the sun. Meaning, certain products were holy grails for some people. While their products were on their way out, they were being heavily discounted, which is when I grabbed this lip balm and an eyeshadow quad. I’ll post about the eyeshadow quad some other time.

THE PRODUCT: It comes housed in a bright green plastic component with a transparent lid. It’s twist-up and lightweight. It also clicks shut. Ticks most of my boxes when it comes to packaging.

It has a faint fruity scent and smells nothing like matcha, like one might expect. These also came out much before The Great Matcha Craze of 2024-25™ so that is expected. The other shades in the line-up consist of what are considered “super foods” as well. Anyway, the scent of this product has gotten much fainter since opening it.

It’s truly a good product, albeit not worth splurging on. I bought it back in 2023 just because it was called ‘Matcha’.

Despite the initial tingling it gives you, it feels comfortable on the lips. It lasts well.

It’s said to be a pH adjusting product but we all know by now that calling something pH adjustable is just industry speak for products that develop a colour (usually a bright pink) based on the heat of your body.

It’s a lovely lip balm consistency — smooth, glides on like silk, adheres well and gives your lips a pick-me-up with its tint. The tint is quite strong too. Because of how strong the tint is, it leaves behind a light stain after it wears off. That being said, the tint might struggle a little to show up on pigmented lips.

It’s also remarkable how glossy the finish is. It almost mimics the glow a lip gloss leaves. Your lips end up looking juicier and plumper if you just whack it on.

It isn’t the most hydrating or nourishing formula but that’s not what you’d expect out of it anyway. It does provide some slip and nourishment to your lips, in which it smooths over any patchiness and lip-lines, but does it provide proper moisture and care? No. No, it does not.

I got a lot of use out of this around last year, when “Brat summer” became a thing. Everything aligned so perfectly, my love for Charli XCX, matcha, lip balms and green.
