ROM&ND Glasting Melting Balm in ‘13 Scotch Nude’
These balms come packaged in a plastic component with a colour gradient corresponding with the shade inside. I believe the shades that are available currently can be told apart by their packaging. The first wave had a coloured gradient lid with a white body while the later launches have a coloured centre that gradients into a white.
These are twist-up but you need to be careful with how much you twist up as the product cannot be pushed or twisted back in. A lot of similar products have this mechanism and it’s a learning curve at first. By the second or third use, you’ll be able to surmise how much product you need to coat your lips adequately.
Another thing is, if you’re unfamiliar with this kind of a “melting balm” formula, you’d need a couple of uses till you’re used to it and know what to expect out of it. The learning curve with this formula is how gloopy and melty the texture of the product is. Once you get the hang of the consistency, you’re golden.
This product literally melts onto your skin and will glide and smooth over your lips like butter. It forms this balmy film that provides instant hydration and leaves a pretty glossy finish. It leaves your pout looking hydrated and feels lightweight. Because of how pigmented it is, you needn’t do more than two passes.
Longevity isn’t particularly great with these. Of course it wears off after meals and drinks, but they perform okay otherwise. While I’d like to think most lip balms can be reapplied without a mirror, these need a steady hand as well as a mirror.
I realise this post is me mostly nitpicking on these so is there anything worthwhile about this line of balms at all? Well, after getting over the hurdle of the consistency, I think these are a decent product to have in your collection. The shade selection is varied and you’ll definitely find one you like. The glossy finish and the texture is lovely once you get used to it. It’s not as balmy as your standard lip balm and is a more watery balm instead.
