Review: Maybelline Diamond Glow Eyeshadow.

Maybelline Diamond Glow Eyeshadow

If you’ve been keeping up with Maybelline’s recent launches, you’ll know that they’re stepping up their game. They’ve been burying me with launches left, right and center – too bad I’m broke ahahaha. What I’m sharing with you today is an older product. It’s so underrated that it bugs me every single time I use it.

THE BACKSTORY: These quads are just so similar to Japanese eyeshadows!! Think Kate, Fasio, Dolly Wink – the texture is just as beautiful as those lovely eyeshadow versions.

THE PRODUCT: The texture of the eyeshadow is something you’ll notice right away – soft, almost-crumbly and smooth. The crumbly part doesn’t sound quite appealing, right? But hear me out. The crumbly texture will melt onto your eyelids so beautifully that you won’t even mind the tiny amount of fall-out it produces. The shadows layer well and blend well too. They hold up well on their own and even better with a base/primer underneath. That being said, the maximum amount of time they’ll last on their own is around 3-4 hours, after which they’ll start to fade. A good base or a primer can effectively combat that.

The shades are shimmery and soft and if you’re not into lush, shimmery finishes, you won’t like these at all. I think these are great even if you’re a beginner and you aren’t able to comprehend how to use shimmery shadows. The good news is, the way the colour gradients from light to dark, you’ll be able to layer and get a good eye-look with ease.

Another great thing about these is that they work beautifully with a wet brush. The shade becomes more pigmented and foil-like.

Like most Japanese eyeshadows, these come with a dual-ended sponge tip applicator. While some might say they’re utterly useless, I personally love using these kinds of applicators. With the texture being smooth and creamy, these applicators do a better job than your fancy eyeshadow brushes. Fingers work too.
