I like NYX and I like that they always experiment with colours, formulas and textures. But, somehow, this is one formula that always falls short for me.
The NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams are easily one of the bestselling line of products in this country.
They offer such a wide range of colours that it’s impossible to not be tempted to own one. I’ve owned quite a few shades in the past but at the moment, ‘Prague’ is the only shade I have on hand.
It’s a thin, lightweight, mousse-like lip colour that glides on to the lips and dries down to a velvet-matte finish. All the colours tend to last quite well on the lips because of how nicely they adhere on to your lips. ‘Prague’ is no exception. The longevity is good. It does transfer a little, though, even after drying down to a matte finish.
‘Prague’ is a purplish fuchsia. It, however, is not as bright as fuchsias usually are.
I will say this — this formula can get quite uncomfortable over time. It sucks up all the moisture from your lips and just makes them look like raisins.
Despite the discomfort, I find myself looking up different shades in their range simply because the options are just so varied. The colours in the line are too pretty to pass up.
I don’t like the formula but I like the colours. What can I do?
∴ If you can stomach drier formulas, you’ll be able to choose from the myriad of colours NYX offers in this range. If not, perhaps, like me, you can use it as a stain or apply a good lip balm on top.
