Review: Goodal Waterest Emulsion.

Goodal Waterest Emulsion

Hello, everyone. It’s Day 2 of Skincare Week and I’m going to be talking about another wonderful emulsion today.

*Skincare products are very subjective in nature. Everybody has different skin-types and different needs. Please keep in mind that what works for me may not work for you.

WHAT IS AN EMULSION? An emulsion is normally used before using a moisturiser. Simply put, an emulsion is a light moisturiser. It has a lighter texture and sinks into your skin faster than your generic moisturiser, mostly because they tend to be water based. It works the best for people with oily/combination skin because of the light consistency. You needn’t necessarily follow up with another moisturiser since it is hydrating enough on its own. However, if you have drier skin, it might be better for you to add another lotion or so.

THE PRODUCT: Firstly, you need to know that the entire Waterest line from Goodal focuses on hydration and water retention.

This emulsion is slightly thicker than your average emulsion. Nonetheless, it’s still lightweight and watery in consistency. I take a coin-sized amount in my palm and usually massage it into my face, allowing my skin to drink it all up. Because it is thicker in consistency, it takes just a little while longer to get absorbed. I find massaging it in works best.

It provides some serious hydration to the skin and retains the moisture throughout the entire day. I’m not kidding – I realised how powerful it is only recently, around February. I was using it throughout winter without particularly being awed. However, as soon as the cold winter started to fade into the dry, windy winter and my skin started to feel parched and developed dry patches all over, this emulsion is the product that rescued it. It left my skin feeling supple and healthy.

The scent is quite strong and overwhelming, though. It took some getting used to, on my part. To me, it smells like a temple. It’s a very strong white floral scent. It does dissipate after you apply it. While I did get used to it fragrance, I might as well just ask those of you with sensitive noses to be a little cautious.

I think it’s a good idea to go over the ingredients list with this one. It contains mineral oil, which may be a problem to overcome to those who have acne-prone skin. There’s word about how mineral oil doesn’t necessarily cause acne but I still think it’s better to analyse the ingredients list and ascertain whether or not you want to give this a go. I don’t think oily skin-types are particularly suitable for the Waterest line.
