Review: Missha Tenshion Blusher in ‘VL01’ (Line Friends Edition)

Missha Tenshion Blusher in 'VL01' (Line Friends Edition)

Hi, guys. I’m going to start off this week with a post on the most recent blush I acquired. I think I’m in love. Now I know I say that about almost every other blush I try but hear me out. This one’s here to stay.

THE BACKSTORY: Lately, I’ve been eyeing everything in the purple family. Purple lip tints, purple eyeshadows, purple nails – why, I even had purple hair for a day! This time around, I introduced a lavender cushion blush into my little makeup family. I waited for so many days before finally deciding to just buy it. They aren’t exactly the most affordable blushes ever, which is why I stopped myself from getting multiple shades. But now, I think I definitely want to give a couple of the other shades a go.

THE PRODUCT: The liquid blush is rather lovely – pigmented, build-able and easy to blend if you use a little too much. The product itself is very soft, like a mousse. On first contact with the cheeks, you’ll be able to feel a cooling sensation. It almost feels as if you’re patting something wet onto your skin.

It leaves a very dewy look on the cheeks. I often find my skin looking luminous after I pat on this blusher. You know the glow you get after you moisturise you skin? Imagine that healthy sheen in the form of a blush. Despite the wet, mousse-like texture, it adheres very well to the skin to give a natural flush to the cheeks.

It lasts for a rather decent amount of time. Given the humid climate where I live, it lasts for at least 2 hours before fading off. Since it is a cushion blusher, you could technically touch it up on the go, with ease.

The packaging is adorable; it is made of a very sturdy plastic and it even contains a nice mirror inside. It’s much smaller than BB cushion compacts. The air-puff they provide with it is a lot stiffer than the ones you get with BB cushions. And, of course, it’s a lot smaller in size too.

The shade ‘VL01 Lavender Basket’ is a very beautiful shade of, well, lavender with pink undertones. It looks bright when you look at it in the cushion but on the skin it comes off a barely-there, healthy, glowy flush of colour. Two pats on each cheek and you’re good to go! ^^

I’ll post an MOTD look with this blush in action soon.

DIFFERENT FROM A REGULAR CUSHION BLUSH? Yes, there is actually a major difference from all the other cushion blushes I’ve played around with (but never committed myself to, hah). While all the other cushion blushers I’ve tried (like the ones from the Etude House Lock ‘n’ Summer collection) were the same soaked-sponge product technology as your average BB cushion compacts, Missha’s version doesn’t quite employ the same. The liquid  is present below a net of sorts – you push the net with your air-puff to dispense the product. The harder you push, the more the blush is dispensed.

I did struggle with the net initially… I got the hang of how hard to push the air-puff to dispense the desired amount only after a couple of tries.

SHADES AVAILABLE: There are 6 shades of the Missha x Line Friends blushers available. There are 2 coral-y shades, 2 pinkish shades, a bold orange one and, of course, the lavender one.

PRICE: $10 – $18 (depending on where you buy it) for 8 grams of product.

AVAILABILITY: cosmetic-love (for $18.20) , roseroseshop (purchased mine here for $11.60) , ibuybeauti (for $17) , tester-korea (for $10) , w2beauty (for $17.52) etc

P.S. I don’t use Line so I don’t really know the name of the adorable little bear character on the blush. Is it Brown? I’m not too sure, guys, sorry. All the characters are cute, though! I especially like the yellow chicken character.

Update: I just decided to Google the names of the Line Friends. The bear’s name is indeed Brown. ^^

Pros

  • The blush gives a dewy flush to the cheeks.
  • It is portable/travel-friendly. The adorable packaging is a bonus.
  • Usually, blush isn't the easiest to touch up but this particular product being in a cushion form makes it ideal for touch ups. It has a nice little mirror too.
  • The pigmentation is good and the lasting power is decent for a cream blush.
  • It has a wet, cooling feeling when you pat it on.

Cons

  • Availability is an issue. Morever, this is a Limited Edition release.
  • Some people might have issues with the hygiene factor of the sponge.
