Did I really need to buy these? No. But I did anyway so I might as well put up my review for them and save you a couple of bucks.

First off, I may have changed over the years but my love for things that come packaged in tins is yet to evaporate. So, yes, I do like the tin packaging. A little difficult to open but it gets easier and easier the more you use it. It also helps if you have longer nails. They’re also pretty handy to slip into a purse and the shape makes it unchallenging for you to scoop it out. What’s not to like?

Okay, I’ll tell you what’s not to like. The fact that the texture of these is near identical to your regular tub of Vaseline.

Genius marketing, right? I think so too.

Putting your well-loved petroleum jelly that has been in use for decades into a more compact component is nothing short of genius.

So, I’m basically going to be reviewing Vaseline petroleum jelly here.

The consistency is smooth (well, yes) and it coats the lips well. They’re not too sticky and give the lips a glossy finish. They’re hydrating, sure, but I don’t really know how moisturizing they are. Like most lip balms, you will get immediate relief and for some people, that’s more than enough.

I also think these will be a good gateway product for people in your life who are reluctant to get into skincare, makeup, beauty and the like. Vaseline is simple enough for them to find comfort in both its name and its formulation. So if you have a partner who’s reluctant to use other lip-balms, they might just use these… Cause, you know, it’s Vaseline. And everybody loves Vaseline, yes?

I don’t really have anything good, bad or worthwhile to say about these apart from the packaging. I guess, if you like strong scents, that’s going to be another plus. You might be better off buying a regular-degular tub of Vaseline.

There are 3 variants available at the moment – Original, Aloe Vera and Cocoa Butter. The latter two are heavily scented. I like the Original one the best.

Unless you’re a lip balm addict or a tin addict, you can skip these. Just buy your generic Vaseline petroleum jelly.
