Review: Essence Blush Up! Powder Blush in ’10 Heat Wave’ & ’20 Pinky Flow’.

Essence Blush Up! Powder Blush 10 Heat Wave 20 Pinky Flow

Oh, look, guys, more blushes. I think, at this point, I can just tell you that my favourite makeup item is blush.

I’m trying to type this post with the Pokémon anime soundtrack in the background. You know, those soft, beautiful songs that played during those magical moments in the anime? Yeah, those. I’m trying so, so hard to keep it together and not collapse into a puddle of tears. I want to play Pokémon Go so bad but at the same time, I don’t really want to. It’s just that I don’t want to ruin the one thing from my childhood that I completely and unconditionally love. Hormonal, post-midnight thoughts, you guys. Let’s just get back to the blushes before I start telling you about how excited I am for Pokémon Sun & Moon. THOSE ALOLA FORMS THOUGH.

THE BACKSTORY: Where was I? Oh, yes, I love blushes. There’s no backstory to this purchase as such. Here are two of the best ones that are available on online shops locally.

THE PRODUCT(S): These blushes are extremely soft and silky and go on very smoothly. They both have a satin finish and they both seem to provide a nice little sheen to the cheeks. There are basically 3 shades in each pan – one on the left, one on the right and one in the centre where they meld together.

As far as longevity goes, they won’t last longer than 3+ hours. However, they do perform a lot better on cooler days.

They do have a couple of differences here and there.

’20 Pinky Flow’ is a lot more pigmented and packs a stronger wallop. The colour pay-off is significantly stronger  and only a small tap of the brush is required to get the most natural flush to the cheeks. It also has small silver shimmer particles running through it. They are not obnoxious shimmer particles – they translate into more of a sheen on the cheeks.

Now, ’10 Heat Wave’ is a lot sheerer. You need to build up its opacity. But what’s so good about it being sheer is exactly the fact that you can build it up to the opacity you desire. It’s very natural-looking and even gives the cheeks a nice, healthy sheen.

The packaging is plastic but is quite sturdy. It’s typical fare for Essence products.
