Here’s the good news about Pixi Beauty: it is finally available outside of local Sephora stores. The bad news, however, is that I don’t think people really care anymore.
THE BACKSTORY: I love Pixi Beauty. I mean, take a gander at my blog name and tell me how one expects me to resist their pistachio green packaging? It’s impossible. That being said, I have spent a good chunk of my time at Sephora, swatching their products. Ah, the pre-pandemic times. Times when hygiene was an after-thought. Anyway, Sephora is on the better end of sanitising their products, I suppose, but I digressed. Pixi Beauty’s highlighters and glitters were all so deliciously creamy that I thought I would buy them after my No Buy ended. I believe my No Buy has ended (today, actually) but there’s no way I’m spending my money on makeup now. Priorities, you see. Sorry, Pixi. But at least I bought this blush. So we have something to talk about.
THE PACKAGING: So the carton this blush comes in is that very delightful pistachio green I mentioned previously. It’s also on the lid of the tube containing the product. As I always say, tube packaging is more than welcome. It’s just so easy to dispense and it keeps the actual product contained inside hygienic. What’s not to like, right?
The blush has a fantastic gel consistency which you will find very sheer and easy to work with, especially if you’re a makeup novice. It is easy to dot on the cheeks and blend out as per your heart’s desire. You don’t need any brushes or sponges for this. Just clean fingers.
Because of the convenient tube packaging you can squeeze out as little or as much product as you desire. Accordingly, you can choose to settle for a more natural look or to build on the colour. Using a slight bit will give you a natural, oh-I-just-came-back-from-the-snow kind of flush. You can also build it up to appear more intense.
The pigments in the blush are potent but are very easily controlled because of the texture of the product itself. It’ll never settle into a clown-like splotch on the cheeks. The finish is very translucent, dewy, healthy, fresh and seamless. The gel consistency is also what makes it a lot more long-wearing than your average powder or cream blush. It holds its own for quite a while, even during the most humid days.
Pixi mentions how you can also use it on the lips as a Lip Tint. It does impart some barely-there pigment to the lips and if that’s a look you’re fond of, you can most definitely use it on the lips too. The tint will be similar to a Korean Water Tint or, say, Benefit’s Benetint.
I don’t think there’s anything bad for me to note about this product as such. It’s a sheer delight. Pun intended.
